Birk Manufacturing recently wrapped up their Spring tradeshow season, with our team attending both Satellite 2025 and MD&M West. These events gave us the opportunity to engage with engineers, buyers, and innovators, many of whom are exploring new innovations that require thermal management support. Here’s a quick look at some of the conversations we had on the show floors:
Satellite 2025
One of the most common questions we received was: “Have your heaters flown in space?” The answer is yes! Our team was happy to share information on these projects. Our heaters have been proven successful in many space missions – on satellites, spacecraft, and even on the fingertips of astronauts’ gloves when performing space walks. This level of flight heritage is critical for organizations developing the next generation of space technologies. Additionally, several of our heaters are currently being tested by NASA for space flight certification.
We also noticed a trending question about biological testing in space. From advanced lab experiments to life sciences payloads, there’s a growing need for precise thermal control in space environments. These applications are pushing the boundaries of innovation and it’s clear that heating and sensor solutions will be essential in supporting these efforts.

MD&M West
At MD&M West, the conversations were all about application-specific challenges. Visitors to our booth asked about previous projects, looking for parallels between our experience and their current designs. This signals a desire to collaborate with knowledgeable engineers with proven expertise.
We saw particular interest in heating systems for fluids—including lines, reservoirs, and tubing. Whether it’s maintaining fluid temperature in medical diagnostics or supporting viscosity control in lab equipment, engineers are turning to flexible heaters for fluid-handling needs.
Another exciting area? Medical 3D printing. Attendees discussed thermal solutions for next-gen printers, an emerging space where precise, reliable heating could unlock entirely new capabilities.
