Most of our customers have dozens if not hundreds of components to bring together into a single product. A heater shouldn’t add to the complexity of your project.

Our value-added services allow you to offload integration work, reduce sourcing complexity, and avoid delays. Instead of assembling parts from multiple suppliers, our customers receive complete thermal systems, designed, built, and tested at our facility.

Key value-added services and capabilities

To simplify your project, our team can take full ownership of the supply chain for your thermal system, sourcing quality materials, managing vendors, and inspecting every part. This ensures our thermal systems maintain exceptional durability and performance.

Prior to manufacturing, Birk uses thermal simulation tools to model thermal behavior under specific application conditions before a single unit is produced. This helps optimize designs, reduce design cycles, and ensure consistent results in the field.

In addition to designing and manufacturing your heater, we can offer the following value-added services:

  • Complex Cabling and Wire Harness Assembly, Gold-plated ZIF ends, Vias, Connectors, and Terminals – 
  • These additions simplify plug-and-play installation and minimize the risk of connection failure. We deliver heaters already fitted with the right harnesses, protective shielding, and termination so your team can focus on other things.
  • Sensors, Switches, and Cut-offs – Integrating temperature sensors, switches, and cut-offs enables real-time monitoring, thermal control and regulation, and automatic system protection. These features are essential in applications where precision and safety are critical.
  • Vulcanization and Lamination to Machined Parts – expert lamination, vulcanization, and bonding services to ensure perfect integration and optimal heat transfer for your project.
  • Preformed Shapes, Foil Backing, and PSA – 
  • Foil backing and pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) can be added to heater surfaces. These enable even heat distribution, adherence to shape requirements, and the application of a heater virtually anywhere. We also design pre-formed shapes without foil backing for tight areas and complex systems.
  • Multilayer, flex, and rigid flex integration – Some projects require highly specialized design such as multiple layer construction for multiple heaters, flex circuit, electrical shielding, UV reflective polyimide, etc. all within the same footprint. We also design for both flexible and rigid-flex circuit integration.
  • Rigorous Testing – Every system undergoes thorough electrical and dielectric testing to ensure it performs exactly as intended, under pressure, safely. We also have further in-house testing capabilities such as thermal shock, power conditioning, insulation resistance, capacitance, pull tests, and NASA testing.
