Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs)

Birk Manufacturing’s Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensors are designed for precision and reliability in temperature measurement.

These extremely accurate, quick-responding sensors operate based on the principle that the electrical resistance of a metal changes with temperature. The sensing element of RTDs is a fine metal wire whose resistance changes with temperature. Therefore, measuring the change in resistance shows us the change in temperature.

RTD sensors can be made from various metals such as platinum, nickel or copper and offer a broad temperature range (-220°C to 850°C). They have excellent resistance to EMI, vibration, and temperature shock. Known for their excellent long-term stability, low drift, and small dimensions, Birk’s RTD sensors are ideal for many high-precision critical applications in demanding environments.
